Richard Harpham has a passion for adventure. He has kayaked the English Channel three times, kayaked 1,000 miles of the Inside Passage from Vancouver to Glacier Bay Alaska, canoed the Yukon and also cycled and kayaked from London to Marrakech, almost 2400 miles. Previously to this his longest bike trip was London to Paris for charity some years before.

His most recent adventure ‘The Spare Seat’ saw him sea kayak over 500 miles with fellow adventurer Glenn Charles from Niagara Falls to the Statue of Liberty, with support from outdoor clothing shop Paramo.

He is now giving a talk on the lessons learnt from over 6,000 miles of human powered adventure, followed by a workshop – “Everything you wanted to know about adventure and were afraid to ask.” The talk is on December 13th at the Páramo store in Covent Garden, 6pm.

Richard was the manager of the Ghana Ski Team at the Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 and co founded www.inspiredlife.org to raise aspiration in young people. Already the organisation has helped over 12,000 young people and was awarded the London 2012 Inspire Mark. He is now planning a series of iconic bike challenges by Salsa Fat Bike including cycling the Sahara and also some island hopping.
