The Lee Valley Legacy Project Team is inviting interested individuals and members of Canoe Clubs to a meeting at 19:00 hrs on Thursday 7th February 2013 at the Lee Valley White Water Centre where they will discuss the project in more detail, talk through the booking process and take payment for bookings for the first few sessions.

More information:

Sessions will be structured to maximise water time for paddlers and provide the best possible training environment to develop Canoe Slalom skills. Gates will be put up and each session managed, with GB Canoeing providing guidance and advice to coaches attending prior to the start of the session.

The GB Canoeing sessions will take place at 19:00 hrs on a Wednesday evening and 09:00 hrs on Saturday mornings and although the priority will be providing an opportunity for junior paddlers, if there is space provision will be made for those of any age from local clubs to attend.

The cost of these sessions to clubs and individuals is £10 per session, with a discount for signing up to five consecutive weeks. Paddlers that are invited to take part are those who are currently at the following levels:

  • BCU 3* paddler or above;
  • Paddler ranked at Division 3 or above in slalom competition;
  • Lee Valley members accredited to paddle the Legacy or Olympic channel;
  • Members of the Southern Regional Squad.

If clubs wish to bring members who do not yet meet the above criteria, they must be responsible for the paddler whilst on the Legacy Channel. At present paddlers will need to have their own boats, but in the spring GB Canoeing will have a small number of slalom boats that will be made available for junior use if required.
