All the canoe clubs in London provide canoe and kayak courses to beginners who want to learn more about canoeing and kayaking. Many clubs run introductory canoe courses and lessons that are ideal for those new to the sport. The clubs are usually very good value for money and are generally run by volunteers who are passionate about their sport.
Canoe and kayak courses for beginners may be limited to certain dates or times of the year, such as the summer months when the weather is warmer.
Canoe coaches may be qualified coaches who have been certified by the British Canoeing, or they may simply be experienced kayakers, who are happy to share their experience and enthusiasm for kayaking and canoeing.

Some commercial operators also provide canoe and kayak courses in London. These are more expensive, but may be the better choice if you need canoe lessons in a hurry, or if you cannot get to club sessions.
British Canoeing Tests and Awards
British Canoeing is the lead body for canoeing and kayaking in the UK and is the umbrella organisation for Canoe England, Canoe Wales, the Canoe Association of Northern Ireland and the Scottish Canoeing Association.
British Canoeing has established a series of tests and awards to help paddlers develop their skills, in both recreational and competitive canoe and kayak sports. British Canoeing has also established a coaching pathway which provides amateur and professional canoe coaches with the skills required to teach canoeing and kayaking at all levels.
