Do you feel the need for speed? This one-day Canoe Sprint regatta in London’s Docklands will provide nail-biting racing, inter-club competition and a great opportunity for paddler development. The all-you-can-race entrance price is just £12 per head.

This event is open to all paddlers in Junior and Veteran Canoe Sprint classes, Canoe Sprint novices and Senior B, C and D. Clubs can  compete for the new Ed McKeever Trophy, awarded to the club team with the greatest aggregate points score.

The venue in London Docklands is an easy drive from the North Circular Road (10 mins) or the M25 Junction 31 (20 mins)

Develop Canoe Sprint at your club

The regatta is a good opportunity for development paddlers to get additional racing experience. Juniors will earn a certificate showing their result, and races are open to paddlers looking to get a national regatta qualifying time. You don’t have to be an experienced racer to take part, recreational clubs and paddlers are as welcome as racing clubs.

Entry costs

Entries cost just £12 per paddler for the whole day. Paddlers may enter the four races in their category: singles and doubles races over 200m and 500m, or ‘race up’ in a higher category for crew boats. With heats and a final for each race, paddlers can race up to eight times for £12.

BCU membership

Everyone in national classes must be a British Canoe Union (BCU) member, except Juniors below D, including Lightning, providing they are members of a BCU affiliated club which has a Registered Youth Section. Other Regional Sprinter and Novices will need a Day Ticket which is included in their entry fee.

Parking & Facilities

Ample, free parking is available at the Regatta Centre. Separate changing rooms, showers and toilets on site.

Safety

All paddlers should have access to a buoyancy aid, which must be worn if organisers decide on the day that this is necessary for paddler safety. All boats must be equipped with additional buoyancy as per the 2013 racing rules, they will be checked and will not be allowed onto the water without this. Failure to observe these instructions will result in disqualification or being barred from the water. Safety craft will operate on the water, including motor boats and safety canoes – motor boats will be used sparingly because of the washes created.

Race numbers

Teams should bring their own lane number sets. Results will not be recorded for boats without numbers.
