This is a fundraising fun challenge for a good cause, and a great activity for local canoe groups and clubs!
The challenge is to paddle the whole length of the non-tidal Thames, which is 123 miles with 44 locks. But you do have all summer to do it.
All the information you need is on the website at www.robroyrally.co.uk. The cost for registration is just £35, for which you get all the documentation required. The organisers ask that you seek sponsorship for the charitable trust Age Unlimited www.ageunlimited.org.uk, which helps and supports people at both ends of the age spectrum, it also encourages young and old to support each other. The trust funds many small projects that are overlooked by bigger funding organisations, small projects that often transform lives.
The organisers ask that you raise £128, £1 per mile for Age Unlimited, but if you can raise more you can donate it to a good cause of your own (your club for example) or of course you can give it all to Age Unlimited.
It is an ideal event for clubs, scouts, families or any body who wants to enjoy the scenery and history of the Thames.
