SUP heading for London

| October 11, 2012

Stand Up Paddler Charlie Head is paddling solo and unsupported from Land’s End to London’s Tower Bridge, nearly 1,000km. Charlie set off on his mission on 11 September 2012 and at the time of writing is aiming to get to Dover tomorrow.

Charlie aims to cover approximately 50 km each day, depending on tide movements and weather conditions. Charlie will be carrying all the supplies and equipement he needs on the paddle board and will be keeping everyone on land updated with regular tweets and status posts, along with a tracker system so you can follow Charlie’s every paddle along the way.

Charlie’s aim is to help develop kids’ environmental awareness via a series of events that inspire their imagination and encourage them to participate in water sports and sustainable living. He has already paddled around the Isle of Wight, but it his next adventure will be the biggest challenge of them all.

Charlie plans to be the first person to paddle solo across the Atlantic, travelling 6,500km from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean on a custom built paddle board. This will be the first time a trip of this nature has been attempted.Details of all of these stages can be found on Charlie’s website www.oceansup.org
