//// Update April 2012: The Lee Valley white water courses have now closed for public access as the centre prepares for the London 2012 Olympics. The courses will reopen in Autumn 2012. ////

The good news for London’s white water kayakers and slalom paddlers is that the Lee Valley White Water courses are now open on Sundays. The Olympic course can also be paddled whenever rafting sessions are taking place, throughout the week (phone to check availability).

The Olympic course provides 300 metres of fast, furious, Grade Four water and the smaller Legacy course provides 160m of demanding, Grade Three white water. Both courses are open to the public, but kayakers and canoeists must take a competency test before being allowed to use the courses.

The courses are open until 9th April 2012, when they will be closed to the public in the build up to the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Opening times are currently as follows:

Legacy Loop

  • Fridays 17:00 – 20:00
  • Saturdays 10:00 – 14:00
  • Sundays 10:00-14:00

Olympic Course

  • Saturdays 12noon – 14:00
  • Sundays 13:00-14:00
  • The Olympic course can also be  during booked rafting sessions (please call 08456 770 606 less than a week in advance to availability).
